Amiss Walter
James Amiss Walter, 75, died Aug. 6 at his residence in Warrenton.
Mr. Walter was the son of the late John Leslie and Virginia Goff Walter of Rapphannock County. He was a retiree from Warrenton Training Center and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Warrenton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn Cockrill Walter, a daughter Darlene C. Kaley of Warrenton, three brothers, Leland Walter of Culpeper, Byrne Walter of Warrenton and Sherwyn Walter of Roanoke, a sister Katherine Riley of Amissville, and two grandsons.
A son predeceased him in 1972.
Funeral services were conducted Aug. 8 at the Moser Funeral Home by the Rev. Sam P. Jones. Interment was at the Warrenton Cemetery.
Effie Dangerfield
Effie P. Dangerfield, 95, of Arlington, died Aug. 6 at the Sleepy Hollow Manor Nursing Home in Annandale.
Mrs. Dangerfield was bom March 15, 1892, in Amissville, the daughter of William and Emoline Jones Hackley. She was married to John T. Dangerfield, who predeceased her.
Surviving are four daughters, Mary D. Brittain of Arlington, Mildred D. Green, Edmonia D. Johnson and Frankie E. Bridgers of Washington, D.C., four sons, John A. Dangerfield of Front Royal, Calvin C. Dangerfield of Washington, Charles D. Dangerfield of Arlington and Douglas H. Dangerfield of Forest Heights, Md., 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
