• The Virginia State Fair will be held in Richmond Sept. 24 through Oct. 4. Last year, several Rappahannock 4-H’ers and adults entered. “We would like to have an even better showing this year,” Mrs. Richardson said. Deadlines vary for each department, but generally entries must be post-marked by Aug. 15. The same general rules will apply this year. Mrs. Richardson said that the Extension Office will make arrangements to transport entries (except animals) to Richmond for the fair and to pick them up and return afterward.
