The program is funded from the library’s budget, and most of the work is done by volunteers who donate their time, and sometimes their cash to pay out-of-pocket expenses.
The idea of summer reading is to keep children learning, although they may be out of school for a few months. The enrichment they receive goes far beyond the books they might pick up while at the library. There have been arts and crafts, among other activities, along with the books to read.
The library’s program has made a difference in the lives of the children who participated. We’d like to thank the library staff, the volunteers, and the performers who stopped by to share their talents.
And we’d like to encourage those who haven’t taken advantage of the program to stop by the library thia evening for the puppet show, which begins at 7:30. The summer reading program will return next year, we hope. We also hope to see many of the county’s children there as well. It’s a great way to spend the summer!
