“I try to make the students in the band realize they're not just a bunch of individuals playing music,” said RCHS Band Director David Orth. “Students realize that they need to give to others which leads to a great growing experience. ”
The high school band has been in existence for five years. Veteran band member David Fisher began band in elementary school and was a member of the first high school band. David has noticed an increase in community support in the last several years. He said, “As the band got better more people found out about it and began to support us more.” He especially noted that the Band Boosters Club has helped to a great extent.
David plans to attend Bridgewater College next year and possibly minor in music. He has particularly enjoyed playing the National Anthem, performing at halftime shows and playing fight songs at basketball games.
