Most Park emergency vehicles are replaced on a routine basis. However, because of high costs and budget restraints, vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks are often difficult to replace. The Park will use the 1980 Ford Wheeled Coach Ambulance as their primary EMS response vehicle at Big Meadows in the Central District.
Acting Park Superintendent Hakel said he was very thankful that the Greene County Rescue Squad had used this means to assist the Park in fulfilling its EMS responsibilities to the public. The ambulance replaces a Park rescue van which no longer meets Federal Department of Transportation standards.
