Supervisor Mike Massie asked Mr. Joyce if the two bids were received on the same specifications.
Mr. Joyce replied that they were, although the final design booklet sent along with the blueprints had not arrived at the companies when the bids were prepared. Thus, the bids were the result of only the drawings and the specifications advertised, but not the detailed specifications contained in the design booklet, he said.
“We just want to make sure that what they propose is what we need,” board chairman Hubert Gilkey added.
“You will need a good base,” Mr. Miller pointed out. “You’re going to be running heavy trucks over it.”
