The budget Conferees Report came out of committee last week, and I am happy to report that the budget amendments I introduced in cooperation with Sen. Truban in response to requests for special funding from my district have been retained in this final report. It now goes to the House and Senate for confirmation. Warren and Shen-andoah Counties have a provision for $169,635 to set up a Public Defender office; Rappahannock, Fauquier and Loudoun Counties will be included in the 20th Circuit Public Defender office thanks to the cooperative efforts of my colleague Ken Rollins of Loudoun County.
The state’s Arboretum at Blandy Farm will benefit from a $50,000 appropriation requiring the University of Virginia to create a plan for the development and utilization of this valuable asset to the community and to the Commonwealth.
Belle Boyd Cottage will receive $20,000 to help restore the interior of this historic landmark and the Old
