To the editor:
Jim Dennis writes how words do not mean the same thing when you are in London. As an Englishman in the Blue Ridge, I run into the same problem, but the other way round. In East Anglia where I grew up, a stream was called a stream, but here, when I say “stream” my good neighbors correct me. Sometimes it’s a run, or maybe a branch, or creek. I’m still trying to learn the difference.
