Reputable contractors are quite willing to furnish the^, names of satisfied customers^ and should not object to a homeowner who wants to wait and consider before making a homeimprovement investment.
• Request that the contract include a clause that the full amount of payment is not due until the job is completed to the customer's satisfaction. Be suspicious of anyone insisting on payment in full in advance, especially for unsolicited work.
• A general rule of thumb in business dealings is that if an offer seems too good to be true — it probably is.
