Visits to see Mickey Mouse in Orlando, trips to Mexico or hikes to the Poconos seem to he honeymoon hot spots tor 1989.
“Walt Disney World is just nonstop,” said Ted Mello of Panorama Travel agency. “It’s amazing, the proportion of people who are coming in February and March tor Disney. Honeymooners have been doing a combination thing. They have been going on cruises and coming back through Disney World. It seems a little crazy, but it is a huge, huge destination,” said Mellow.
Cancun, Mexico, is another southern hot spot. Part of Mexico’s allure is the hot, soothing weather that is present all year-round. Even though Hurricane Gilbert wreaked havoc on the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico is still getting the crowds.
“Mexico is definitely a hot spot, Cancun especially. It is a really heavily-traveled destination. They got blasted pretty well by the hurricane, but it appears that they have gotten things under control down there," said Mello.
For the budget honeymooner, staying in the States or going on a cruise might be the answer.
“Of course the whole venture is going to depend on people’s budgets and what they can afford. If Mom and Dad are paying for it, then a cruise looks great. But if the couple is paying for it, then the Poconos is
