But no one should ever show up at a wedding in an outfit that is all black, all red, or all white. These colors are simply taboo at weddings.
Arrive early at the church and be seated — don’t stand out in the foyer gabbing with friends. Early arrivals are entitled to the aisle seats, and they need not move for those who arrive later.
After the ceremony is over, move on. This is another time not to hang around chatting.
Be polite to all other guests from both sides of the family. You must go through the receiving line, but don’t hold it up. A perlite word is allfhat is necessary. And NO KISSING, unless you are kissed first.
If you have brought a camera to the reception, it is permissible to take some candid shots if you are totally unobtrusive about it.
DON’T be the last person to leave the reception, and make sure that you are sober when you leave. If you are not sober, call a cab or a friend to come and get you.
It is a nice gesture to write to the hosts of the reception — usually the bride’s parents, but sometimes the bride and groom themselves — and say "thank you" and tell them what a nice time you had.
If you behave well as a guest at all of this season’s weddings, maybe good etiquette will catch on. Then just think how nice all the guests will be at your wedding!
