Mrs. May Belle “Mickie” Stuart was honored on Sunday, Jan. 29 with a surprise reception hosted by the United Methodist Women. She was delighted to have her brother Henry Underwood, his wife Mildred and their daughters Karen Underwood and Judy Hill attend. They are from Baltimore, Md. Many friends in the community also attended. Mrs. Stuart moved here in 1953 from Bethesda, Md.
Of Mrs. Stuart’s long list of aeV complishments and service to the community, her greatest contribution was her desire to fulfill her late husband’s, Navy Captain Luther B. Stuart’s dream of providing the Ruritan Club and the ball teams with a place to continue their activities to unite our community and provide wholesome activities for our children. Mrs. Stuart donated the 8.6acre tract known as Stuart’s Field in Capt. Stuart’s memory.
Mrs. Stuart’s special day began by her Sunday School class presenting her with a corsage. She was presented with gifts by the United Methodist Women president Pauline Latham. Pastor Parker announced the live flowers in the sanctuary
