guidelines early on that enable you to say “We now do it ‘our’ way.”

Topics to discuss include sleep habits, time clocks (expect a lot ot adjustment here it you’re a night person and he or she is early to bed, early to rise), chore allocation, mealtime and menus, shopping lists (shopping together can both help and hurt when differences occur about what to buy), bringing work home and doing things together.

Time together must be consciously budgeted into every modem marriage for it to survive. One last item on the discussion agenda should be the rules of argument.

These will evolve as largely unspoken rules as time goes by, but remember to speak up if your prospective mate occasionally fights “dirty"!

Avoiding a discussion about something that bothers you or just plain being catty are examples of behavior you might want to curtail before things gets out of hand.

Too, never go to bed angry, and try not to hold grudges too long. Call “time out” as often as necessary. Discuss, discuss, discuss and then follow up with compromise, compromise, compromise.

After a few months of marriage, the advance planning you’ve done together will begin to pay off.

Remember, you have common goals and a lot of time before you. Most of all, accept the challenge and have fun.
