items which are useable or repairable or can be renovated. This is a partial list only. Any and all sorts of tools and implements find a ready market at the auction.
We depend on community donations of these things and hence we will have “district chairmen” throughout the county to receive and store these items until the day of the auction. Or, you can bring your donations to the Washington Fire Department all day long on May 11 and 12, where somebody will be there to receive it and issue you a certificate of donation. You decide the value of these gifts, which are deductible items on income tax returns. We have guidelines to help you arrive at a proper valuation. On May 11 Lions Club members will be at the Fire Department until 11 p.m.
The auction commences at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Washington Fire Department. It will be conducted by a professional auctioneer, Bill Payne, who has helped us so much in past years.
Refreshments will be available, a sort of carnival atmosphere prevails and we hope to see you there. And, our big feature is raffling off a truly handsome grandfather clock, once more, an extraordinarily generous donation by Gene Tucker, Clock Maker. We also run the traditional Lions “fifty-fifty” purse. You buy a ticket, or chance, and if your number comes up, you get half the proceeds!
