One sure-fire way to personalize a
room is to decorate it with
photographs, from antique sepia-toned prints of bearded ancestors to favorite color snapshots of a new baby.
With the variety of frame styles and materials on the market, the aesthetic possibilities are endless.
“It’s not just chrome and glass anymore, or the standard black frame,” says Kate Williams of Serendipity Interiors in Leesburg. “There are many wonderful gold gilt frames out. Old mirrors make wonderful frames.”
“A good frame and a good mat is a real nice way to make just an ordinary picture become exceptional,” Williams says.
Frames with a more classical look, such as crystal or art deco styles are currently popular, says Carl Zelman of Zelman’s Frame Gallery in Herndon and CountrySide.
Decorative photo frames run between $8 and $50 in 5-by-7. 8-by-10 and 11 -by-14, the most popular sizes, says Dave Otto, manager or the frame shop at Ben Franklin in Warrenton. A
