Williams Jr.
Walter Herman “Mule” Williams Jr., 80, of Chester Gap, died March 20 in Warren Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was held March 23 at Tumer-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal with the Rev. Jimmy Burke officiating. Burial was in the Williams family cemetery in Chester Gap.
Mr. Williams was bom Sept. 29, 1909, in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Walter H. and Rosia Florence Smith Williams. He was a retired mechanic from F.M.C. Corp. He served in the Army during peace time and was a member of the Chester Gap Baptist Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Chapter 374, Front Royal.
Surviving are his wife, Marie P. Williams; three sons, Walter H. “Bobby” Williams, Thomas 0. “Timmy” Williams and James A. “Jimmy” Williams of Chester Gap; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry Matthews of Browntown; one brother, Stanley Williams of Chester Gap; one sister, Weltie Willis of Front Royal; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Albert Cameron, Lovell Walker, Billy Wines, Gene Wines, Maynard Williams and Tommy Williams.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the I.O.O.F.
