Rappahannock County High School seniors Benjamin Roy and Elizabeth Conover were awarded the 1990 U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete medal. It. is presented annually by the U.S. Army Reserve to high school students who have shown outstanding ability in both academics and athletics.
Sgt. 1st Class Thomas H. Sanders presented the bronze, Olympicstyle Scholar/Athlete medals to Mr. Roy and Miss Conover. The Army Reserve has presented the medals annually to outstanding scholar/athletes each year since 1981. Last year, nearly 20,000 students at 11,200 schools nationwide were honored.
The following students were also honored for their outstanding academic achievements at the academic honors assembly on May 28.
English honors: Bonnie Jewel, eighth grade; Patrick O’Meara, ninth grade; Amy Kellert, tenth grade; Linda Jenkins, eleventh grade; Alfreda Cook, twelfth grade.
