Exciting things are happening at Rappahannock County Library this month.
The plans for the new building have been approved by the Building Committee, new books, tapes and videos are arriving daily, the summer reading program has been scheduled, and donations for the Fourth of July book sale are now being accepted.
Tests done at the site of the new library indicated that progress on the proposed building can continue as planned. Fund-raising efforts are still underway as the Committee approaches the construction documents phase of the project. Robert Darby, James P. Jamieson and Susan Babcock have been instrumental in targeting and contacting foundations for grants to help cover the cost of the new building.
David Peterson and the Rappahannock National Bank Board of Directors have worked with Elizabeth Jones to involve children and youth in the fund-raising project. The bank will be donating $1 to the building fund for each book read and recorded during the summer reading program. Look for more details as the starting date, June 27 approaches.
