Since there was no such appropriation this year, the $5,000 set aside represents another 25 percent of the administrative increase.

Insurance for the town, its officials and its employee, Ray Pullen, also increased this year by more than $1,000. Prior to this year, the town carried insurance only for the Independence Day celebration. Last summer, it joined the Virginia Municipal Liability Pool, which provides insurance on claims against the town as well as insurance on its officials. That figure also includes Mr. Pullen’s workmen’s compensation payment.
