Ki Theatre in Atlanta

The Ki Theatre of Washington will present its "Conference of the Birds" at the Festival of Southern Performance in Atlanta on Oct. 2-7. The Festival of Southern Performance is held every two to three years to feature the work of some of the 55 theatre and performing groups which are members of Alternate ROOTS, a coalition of Southern artists and performing groups. The organization is dedicated to exploring and nurturing the art of the Southern United States. Last chance to register

General Registrar Nancy Leake reminds county residents that Saturday, Oct. 6 is the last day to register to be eligible to vote in the election scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6. Her office in the county courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For information about voter registration, call 675-3739.

Handling county tax matters

The county treasurer's office has mailed all real estate and personal property tax bills for 1990. Any county residents who have not received their bills should call the Treasurer's Office (675-3334). Residents with questions about the assessments of their real estate or personal property should contact the Commissioner of the Revenue's office (675-3513). Both offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Any other questions or comments about taxes should be directed to each district's county supervisor.

Land transaction reminders

The county office of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service reminds foreign investors that any purchase or transaction involving land in Rappahannock County must be reported to that office. Penalties could apply, under the Foreign Disclosure Act, if ASCS is not notified. Farmers are also requested to notify ASCS of any transactions involving their farmland, so that the office records may be updated.
