‘Roundabout
'Pretty Woman' at theatre
“Pretty Woman" will be the feature attraction at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 and 30. The film is an instantly digestible modern “Cinderella" story in which streetwalker Julia Roberts (“Steel Magnolias") meets and falls for corporate Prince Charming Richard Gere. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and the movie is rated R.
Radio fans sought
The Rappahannock Players are looking for people interested in 1940s radio drama, comedy and music. The Players are planning a production based on a day in radio to be staged at the Gay Street Theatre in late October. People with recordings, books and an interest in participating in this reenactment of a special time should contact Mitch Hostetter (937-5675, evenings).
Block party in Washington
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a block party on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 8 p.m. until midnight. The dance, featuring the New Riders, will be held on Gay Street in front of the courthouse. Admission is $3 per person, and food, wine and beer will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Washington VFD.
Horseshoe tournament
A horseshoe tournament will be held at the Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, Sept. 29, beginning at 11 a.m. The cost is $1 5 per team, and trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers. All are welcome.
