This request first came before the planners in June. At that time the planners asked attorney James W. Fletcher III, representing the Settles, to submit a site plan, provide further information on the results of tests that had been done on wells in the area and submit a narrative explaining how the rezoning request fits in with the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
Paul and Charlotte Nichols, who own a house next door to the garage, objected to expanding a commercial use so close to their house. Their attorney, David Konick, submitted photos showing the abandoned cars and parts of cars that had been parked on the property and described the rezoning as a first step that would lead to commercial zoning all along the main street in Flint Hill.
Mr. Fletcher reported that he and his clients had “tried to comply with the requests of the commission and the adjoining landowners.” He said they had scaled back on the amount of land they wanted rezoned and were excluding 9,960 square

interest in any particular content area, courses in that area may be offered locally. Otherwise teachers may take the courses at Shenandoah or from another college or university and have the credits transferred into the masters’ program at Shenandoah.
During the spring of the third year teachers will be required to write a thesis on a subject related to education or to their endorsement areas.
During a break during class last week one teacher said, “I think our students will really benefit from this.”
