Mayes D. Campbell
Mayes Dudley Campbell, 99, a native of Washington and a 12-year resident of Newport News, died at home on Sept. 22.
Mrs. Campbell was born Dec. 7, 1890 in Washington, the daughter of the late Francis Buckner Dudley and Saintie Carter Dudley. She attended Mary Baldwin College and Woman's College of Richmond. She was a lifelong member of the Washington Baptist Church and was noted for her work in religious and community affairs. She was married to the late William Curtis Campbell.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John W. Paulson, with whom she made her home; one sister, Mrs. Charles H. White of Linden; two grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 25 at Washington Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Bare officiating. Private burial was held in the Masonic Cemetery.
