Five of the six exchange students are Youth for Understanding participants while Vesna Grurhie of Yuogoslavia has come to the United States through the American Intercultural Student Exchange (AISE) program, one of the first to visit the East Coast, though for several years the exchange has placed Yugoslavian students on the United States’ West Coast.
The students, ranging in age from 16 to 18, are hosted by Rappahannock County families from August of this year until June, 1991.
“It seems we have a real good bunch of kids,” Mrs. Helmer said, adding each seems to be “fairly outgoing.” This year offers change and variety to both Rappahannock County schools and the Rappahannock community.
