It’s a cultural invasion at Rappahannock County High School.
This year joining the regular Rappahannock County High School students are six exchange students from around the world.
“The students arc all different this year,” according to Patricia Helmer of Castleton, who serves as regional director for the Youth For Understanding (YFU) program. “In some ways they are similar to the students from last year in that each is unique in themselves.”
Mrs. Helmer and her husband, Richard, work through the year with the children, helping them with problems, hosting cultural events and assisting the host families through meetings and workshops. This is the first year in several the Helmer family has not hosted an exchange child.
