Queen contestants needed

Queen contestants are needed for the upcoming fall festival carnival sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department. The event is scheduled for Oct. 4-7. For more information concerning the queen contest please call Margaret Ann Wayland at 987-8260.

RCES t-shirts

The Rappahannock Elementary School PTO will sell t-shirts throughout September. All of the proceeds will go toward obtaining educational activities and materials for the children at the elementary school. A copy of the t-shirt may be seen in the office at the elementary school and this year a variety of colors are offered: coral, cool green, turquoise and peach. The cost of the t-shirt is $7 and order forms are in the office at the elementary school or by calling Linda Mallory at (703) 937-6039.

Class of 1980 reunion

The Rappahannock County High School class of 1980 will be having their 10 year reunion on Saturday, Oct. 6. A barbeque is planned at the Rappahannock Park. If you are a member of the class of ’80 and have not been contacted please call Marion Facchina at (703) 937-5000 for more information by Sept. 4.

Sperryville plans fall carnival

The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will have a fall carnival Oct. 4-7. Rides will be provided by West Virginia Amusement Company. The department plans to host a Saturday and Sunday matinee.

Benefit dance in Flint Hill

There will be a benefit dance at the Flint Hill fire hall on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 8 p.m. to midnight, featuring the OKs. Money raised firom the event will go toward medical bills for Thomas Beaver, whose face was badly bitten by a stray dog. He had no medical insurance to cover the costs of plastic surgery. Shooting match at Castleton

A shooting match will be held every Saturday starting Oct. 6 and continuing through Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. at Castleton firehouse. Cash and other prizes will be awarded. Those participating are reminded 12 gauge guns only, no sleeves and no scopes.
