Virginia Sen. Thomas Johnson Michie Jr., 59, of Charlottesville, may soon be Rappahannock’s representative in the state senate, replacing Sen. Kevin Miller of Harrisonburg. Gov. Wilder’s flat-out opposition to the senate’s redistricting plan will not likely change that prospect.
Sen. Michie, a Democrat, has represented the 25th senatorial district in the General Assembly since 1980. Prior to 1980 he was for 10 years a member of the House of Delegates from Charlottesville.
He said this week he was excited about the prospect of representing Rappahannock, although the county is about as new to him as he is to it.
