Bingo bonanza
The Amissville Volunteer fire department will hold a bingo bonanza at the fire hall on Saturday, May 11. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be sold. Pre-registration is due by Friday, May 3. For tickets or more information call 937-4367,937-4410 or 937-5695.
Spring event at church
Washington Baptist Church will be having their annual spring event and Grandma’s Attic at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Items for Grandma’s attic are needed. For donation of baked goods call Jean Alther at 675-3844 and for Grandma’s Attic call Ruth Clark at 6753608. Plate lunches, barbecue chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, baked goods, crafts and plants will be available.
Queen contestants sought
The Sperryville Fire Department will hold its carnival May 29June 1. Any girls interested in running for carnival queen should contact Margaret Ann Wayland at 987-8260. Crowning of the queen will take place Saturday night.
Crazy Eights to perform
The Washington Volunteer fire department will sponsor a dance beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at the fire hall. The Crazy Eights will perform. You must be 21 years of age to enter. Cost is $7 per person.
Breakfast at Flint Hill
An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Flint Hill fire hall on Saturday, April 27. The price is $5 for adults and $3 for children eight and under. The breakfast is sponsored by the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department. The menu includes eggs, apples, sausage, bacon, potatoes, biscuits, coffee and tea.
Lions benefit auction
The Rappahannock Lions Club is again planning for their annual benefit auction to be held at the Washington fire hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Proceeds from this auction are used to support local needs of the community such as sight and hearing screening, youth athletics, senior citizens, scholarships, drug awareness and other projects. The club is accepting donations of new, renewed or serviceable items that you no longer have need for. Cash contributions are also gratefully accepted. Food and clothing however are not acceptable. Spring concert
The Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society announces its spring concert, “Mostly Broadway,” is set for 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the Culpeper County High School.
Music director Lois Shanks has selected for this pops concert beloved songs and toe-tappers of Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan, Jule Styne, Rodgers & Hammerstein and a “Fiddler on the Roof’ medley.
Soloists and instrumentalists will be featured.
The concert is free and open to the public. However, because of the high budget cost of this performance, a suggested donation of $2 per person will be gratefully accepted at the door.
