PARALLELING INFLATION

Historically, the value of real estate has always risen MORE than the general Inflation rate. Lets suppose that housing levels off over the next five years and just KEEPS PACE, rather than increasing MORE than the inflation rate.

Over the next five years, the inflation rate is expected to rise between 4 and 6 percent. Let's use the lower estimate and say that you purchase a *100,000 home with a *20,000 down payment. After one year, appreciating at only 4%. the house is worth *104,000 - or shows a *4,000 equity build-up profit. That's a 20% return on the down payment. Not bad. After five years, the house will be worth *121,665. That's over a 100% return on the cash invested. As you can clearly see, few other investments can match real estate. Also, you'll have to factor in the tax benefits of ownership.

Will Inflation stay at 4 or 6%? That anybody's educated guess. As a real estate owner, you re protected because property has always been the best hedge against Inflation.
