Pianist-composer Peter Kater and his family decided to move from Boulder, Colo, last year, and set out ; to find a new home.

Their travels eventually led them to the Virginia countryside. They i liked Charlottesville, but decided it was too much like Boulder. Using , D.C. as a base, they focused on this 1 region.

Last fall they were in Warrenton when they asked a stranger where a young, artistic couple could find a rural lifestyle and like-minded folks.

“Try Washington, Va.,” they were told and they did, falling instantly in love with the county and deciding to make Rappahannock their permanent home.
