tricting plans passed by both the Senate and House on April 9. Wilder told an assemblage of reporters April 11 that the Senate’s plan was “dead” when it was adopted.

Wilder reportedly will seek five minority-controlled Senate districts, while the Senate provided only three such districts in the plan it adopted. The Senate currently has only two minority-controlled Senate districts.

Sen. Michie serves on four senate committees: Transportation, Courts of Justice, Education and Health, and Rehabilitation and Social Services.

Asked about concerns that Rappahannock might be overlooked in a district based in Charlottesville and about 90 miles long, Sen. Michie said he wouldn’t let that happen.
