“People think sandals just suddenly appeared in the ’60s,” said Mr. Watson. “That’s ridiculous. They’ve been around for thousands of years. ”
Another popular item, he said, is custom-made moccasins.
Their clientele, said Mrs. Watson, “varies tremendously. We get everyone from teenagers who saved their money for something special to black Baptist ministers and Tibetan monks.” The monk bought sandals.
