In a game that was called under the slaughter rule, the Lady Panthers destroyed George Mason Friday at home.
The win left Rappahannock with a 9-4 Bull Run District record, 9-6 overall. Friday they play Brentsville at home and the regular season ends Monday with a contest at Manassas Park. Baseball loses
three this week
It was a tough week for the Rappahannock High baseball team. Going into the three games the squad had a glimmer of hope for postseason play. By the time the last pitch was thrown Friday the Panthers had dropped their overall record to 3-10 and were eliminated from any chance of a playoff bid.
The Panthers, a young team, lost to district-leading Clarke 17-3 Tuesday, to Central 12-8 Thursday, and to George Mason 19-3 Friday.
“When you depend on young pitching, you just can’t expect them to do it all,” said Rappahannock coach Mike Tupper.
One bright spot in the Central game was the hitting of junior catcher Kevin Daymude, who had two doubles. Daymude is hitting .444 with 21 RBIs to lead the team. Track team
faces districts
The Rappahannock High track team performed strongly in a trimeet last week against Clarke and Page in Berryville. The district meet is next week.
