Lord Fairfax Community College will hold its 12th annual 5-miler in Middletown at 9 a.m. May 18, rain or shine.
The course is along country roads, rolling hills and the streets of Middletown. m

Ohio balloon
lands on farm
A balloon launched by an Ohio elementary school student landed on the Amissville farm of Jane Batchelder recently.
Jerry Sinclair of McArthur, Ohio sent the balloon as part of Right to Read Week on March 5.
Mrs. Batchelder, ironically, is a reading teacher.
