When the Nov. 5 General Election rolls around, Rappahannock voters will have at least one choice to make, between two-term incumbent Sheriff John Henry Woodward and Amissville resident Roger Cordani, the challenger.
Sheriff Woodward said he wants the election to be a referendum on how he has done his job, and on the changes he has made over seven-plus years in office.
Mr. Cordani thinks Rappahannock voters “can do a lot more for the same money we’re spending now” and criticized Sheriff Woodward for what he called slow responses to crime scenes.
Sheriff Woodward, 43, a Castleton resident and Rappahannock native, points with pride to the fact that year in and year out he comes in under budget and has even made the jail a money-making proposition by renting out cells to overcrowded counties.
