Mrs. T.M. Johnston was a dinner guest on Sunday of Mrs. Carolyn Meade, Bethany and Broocks in Charlottesville. Other guests were Mrs. Harry Willoughby of Unionville and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Tanner of Forrest Lake.

Saturday luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ranny Aylor and Heather were Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Aylor Jr. and David of Woodbridge.

Col. and Mrs. Clark Eden Merchant of Fairfax and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip E. Watson of Columbus, SC were last Thursday morning guests of Mrs. Harald Havstad and son Peter.

Mrs. Emma Swindler and Mrs. Helen Carroll were shoppers in Culpeper on Monday.

Guests over the weekend of Mrs. Nina Sisk were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sisk of Orange and Mrs. Lucy Jenkins of Boston. Recent guests in the Sisk home were Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cubbage of Castleton.

The annual Memorial Day festival sponsored by the Sperryville Business Council will be held May 25, 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. There will be special sales, antiques, crafts, arts, entertainment, food, games for the children and lots more located throughout the town. The event will be sponsored by the Council and those belonging to the group includes The Trading Post, Sperryville Antique Market, That Sperryville Emporium, The Church Mouse, The Faith Mountain Company, Southern Drawl Artworks, Country Home Antiques and Fine Gifts, Woodsmoke Cafe, Elmer’s Antiques, Oldway Craft Village, Horseshoe Hills, Parkway Gift Shop and Country Manor.

Sponsorship members include Caledonia Farm B&B, Wilson’s Thistle Hill B&B and Antiques, Hazel Mountain Pub, The Country Cafe, The School House Restaurant and Inn, Country Elegance, Framecraft, Rocklands Orchards and Wolf Mountain Traders and will also feature festival activities.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Klatko and Sara and Mrs. Sally McKinley of Des Moine, Iowa travelled to Annapolis, Md. on Saturday and had lunch with Rick McKinley and daughter Jennifer. On Sunday evening the Klatkos and Mrs. McKinley attended the movie “Hamlet” at The Theatre at Washington.
