Rappahannock Republican Chairman Walter Longyear is happy that the county was put back in GOP State Sen. Kevin Miller’s district.

“We’re very pleased that the district was kept the way it was,” he said. “I believe the majority of the people in Rappahannock are happy with the service Sen. Miller provides, and I think he will have an easy election.”

Local Democratic Party Chairman Douglas Baumgardner is furious about it and is particularly angry with his party’s governor for bringing it about.

“The Blue Ridge Mountains are a natural and historical dividing line in terms of communities of interest,” he said.
