The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League welcomed a new shelter manager Tuesday, May 7.
“I’m basically here to care for the animals,” Reba Huff of Front Royal said with a smile, adding her only training is her true love for animals.
Previous shelter manager Tracey Clark has left the position for work in New Jersey. Huff began work on Tuesday this week and will continue to work 30 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mrs. Huff, also, plans to work one Sunday a month to give volunteers a break.
Besides her duties with office management, Huff will oversee adoption of animals, animal care and exercise, and cleaning and maintaining the shelter.
Mrs. Huffs first priority is to clean the shelter and make it “look like home.”
“I’ve already bought curtains for the windows,” she said, adding earlier in the month, she visited the shelter and spent time cleaning.
“I like to clean and I want it clean there,” she said, adding it’s a process that needs to be done each day around the dogs.
