During the opportunity for public comment at this Monday’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting, Frank R. McGhee Jr. of Amissville said he wanted to bring “criminal charges against the Rappahannock County government as a whole.”
He said he had asked two years ago what would be needed to bring his road into the state road system.
He said he was told a state road had to serve at least three houses. He said his road has three residences and five owners. He said he had asked because of problems he was having with dust on the road from trucks carrying refuse to a “stump dump.”
“I had heavy vehicles going up and down the road and dust and traffic,” he said. “There were numerous trucks, not just from one company. They were making a lot of dust. I had to put plastic over a whole side of my porch to keep dust from coming in.”
Mr. McGhee said the truck traffic stopped and then started again this past February. He said this year all the trucks were from R.L. Rider Construction of Warrenton.
He said his wife had gone out into the road to ask the drivers to slow down. “They slowed down for a while and then started again this April very heavy,” he added. He said he called the building inspector who referred him to the county administrator. He said several calls to the county administrator weren’t returned. Finally he said he talked to County Administrator John McCarthy and held the phone outside so
