Audrey Marie Aylor and Douglas Warren Voeks, both of Syracuse, N.Y., were united in marriage at the University of Virginia Chapel in Charlottesville on Saturday, March 23. The Rev. Michael Lyle, pastor of the Madison United Methodist Church and Father Albert Verbeke of Washington performed the ceremony at 7 o’clock.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Aylor, formerly of Waynesboro, now residing at Monacan Meadow in Madison.
The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Pamela W. Lynn of Washington and the late Mr. William E. Lynn Jr.
Mrs. Alice Layman of Charlottesville was organist and Mrs. Diane Heavner of Waynesboro and Mr. Jeffrey Ames of Harrisonburg were soloists.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a candlelight satin gown featuring a wide off the shoulder portrait neckline, long fitted sleeves of tulle and lace, and motiffs of re-embroidered Alencon lace with extensive beading on the bodice and skirt front. Cut outs overlayed with Alencon lace and beading highlighted the Cathedral train. The hemline was finished with scalloped lace, pearls and sequins. Her Coronet headpiece was made of Alencon lace, pearls and sequins. An ivory veil extended to Cathedral length. She carried a cascade bouquet of Phalaenpsis, Cymbidium, and Dendrobium orchids, lillies, roses and ivy. She also carried, as her “something borrowed,” a white Bible belonging to the late Judy Meier.
