The draft budget Mr. Cox presented to the supervisors for the current fiscal year was based on a 75 cent tax rate on real estate. It showed a surplus of nearly $188,000. About $40,000 of that surplus is earmarked for the enhanced 911 emergency system. Another $135;000 is a one-time reimbursement from the state for half the cost of the jail addition.
