When I got home, I called the Extension Agent, Tommy Williams, and asked if anyone had reported sighting eagles in the area. He said no one had and asked if I would go back and watch for them whenever possible. I did that for the rest of the winter. I even took our camera, but to no avail. Now I’ll never see them again and all my friends will never see them and all the people I don’t know will never see them. And those birds will never have eaglets which could grow up and someday we could have had an eagle colony in Rappahannock.
What puzzles me is that some one is so afraid of eagles or so vicious that he or she needs to kill. There are those who would wonder why someone could become so hung up on a couple of birds. The reason is that I believe that our national symbol, the eagle, is also a symbol for a lot of other ills. I may not be guilty of killing those eagles, but I am not com
