The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department will hold an auction at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 23 in the fire hall. Anyone wishing to make donations or who needs items picked up can call 675-3067,6753286,675-3143 or contact any fire department member.
Advertising staff earns awards
The Rappahannock News won two awards from the Virginia Press Association during its annual advertising competition.
General Manager Barbara C. Burke and artist Debbie Kurylo won first place for a two-page ad taken out by Sheriff John H. Woodward during the fall elections.
They also won a second-place award for an advertisement by the Rappahannock Woman's Club.
The awards were presented two weeks ago in Richmond.
Memorial Day dosings noted
The following businesses and county government offices will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day:
Rappahannock Social Services Department, the Rappahannock Library and the Rappahannock Health Department.
Family Guidance Services of Rappahannock will also be closed. In case of an emergency, clinic staff may be reached by calling 675-3329.
The Rappahannock National Bank in Washington and the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Flint Hill will also be closed.
