In addition to this Saturday’s concert at The Theatre at Washington, Va. by James “Plunky” Branch, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC) has scheduled three performers in the coming months, all with national reputations: Robin and Linda Williams, California and Freyda and the Atta Boys.
Plunky brings his mix of jazz-inflected music to Washington at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 23. Tickets are $10 at the door.
California, featuring acoustic musicians Byron Berline, Dan Crary, John Hickman, Steve Spur gin and John Moore, are ambassadors of a traditional music form that begins with the roots of country and bluegrass and expands on those traditions to create and original and dynamic sound.
Berline has recorded with the Rolling Stones, Gram Parsons, Bill Monroe, John Denver, Earl Scruggs, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris and Mason Williams (to name just a few). Crary recently worked on Michelle Shocked’* latest recording project, "Arkansas Traveler," and has classical credits to J his name.
