About 60,000 tons of asphalt will be used by a Richmond paving firm to resurface of sections of roads in Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties.
Resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation is scheduled for primary Route 231 and secondary routes 620, 621 and 707 in Rappahannock County at a cost of $182,133.
Lee Hy Paving Corp. started applying the asphalt to selected sections of primary and secondary roads this month.
Besides the resurfacing, the contractor will also mill - remove existing - road surfaces in Madison County and complete shoulder rehabilitation along sections of roads in Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock counties.
In Culpeper County, approximately 15 miles of roadway will be resurfaced. Shoulder rehabilitation will be done on sections of routes 3,15 and 29 along with resurfacing, and resurfacing on sections of routes 617,620 and 685. Contract cost of the work in Culpeper County is $421,723.
Sections of the northbound lane of U.S. 29 in Madison County from Route 626 to the Robinson River bridge and between routes 230 and 626 adjacent to the Virginia Department of Transportation Madison area headquarters are scheduled to be milled before being resurfaced.
Some shoulder rehabilitation is scheduled along with the resurfacing slated for sections of primary routes 29 and 230 and secondary Route 609. The work
