the draw. The district had several good pitchers this season, and it seemed that the Panthers were going up against the other team’s ace every time.
“The only goal we didn’t meet this year, and it was a pretty lofty goal, was to make the playoffs. We definitely were competitive, and that’s where we wanted to be,” said Coach Tupper.
Seniors Daymude, James Roy and Justin Ferrence are the only players being lost to graduation. And the only juniors are Lillard, Kevin Jolliffe and catcher Mike Jenkins.
For next year, said Coach Tupper, “I’d like to be at .600 and I’d like to make the playoffs. It’s up to the boys. If they play this summer, they’ll improve a whole lot.”
Wakefield CDS splits
in volleyball action
Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly won a one-sided volleyball game against Wakefield School in Marshall May 4, 16-1, 16-6, 16-7, 1512.
Oliver Culley scored a total of 29 points for Wakefield CDS, including the first nine points of the first game.
Mike Viega had 10 of WakefieldMarshall’s 26 total points.
Going into the Delaney Conference Tournament last week, Wakefield CDS had a 4-6 record. In the first round Fredericksburg Christian went up by two games, 15-6,153 before the Wakefield Owls came back to win the third game, 15-9. Fredericksburg Christian took the fourth and deciding game, 17-15 to advance in the tournament.

Youth baseball action continued in Rappahannock this week for teams in the Rappahannock Athletic Association. Reported scores this week were the Pirates 15, Astros 0; the Orioles 22, Tigers 12; Tigers 23, Lions 21; Cubs 14, Lions 5; and Lil Orioles 20, Cubs 13.
