A man who has broken into three homes in Old Hollow, apparently looking for food, does not appear to be dangerous or violent, but the Rappahannock Sheriffs Office is asking residents of that area to be on the lookout and to take extra precautions.
The man has been spotted only once, but two other break-ins at vacant houses have been attributed to him, said Maj. Ed Streapy of the Rappahannock Sheriffs Office. He is believed to be living in the mountains around Old Hollow, possibly within Shenandoah National Park.
Based on one woman’s encounter with him, he is described as a white male, mid-20s, average build with short, brown hair. He had been wearing a two-piece blue work-type uniform, said Mjy. Streapy. He is also described as neat in appearance.
In the first incident, someone removed the screws from the hasps keeping the windows of a mountaintop cabin locked, then cut a triangular hole in the sash and entered the building. Taken were a kerosene
