The cast may be all female, but there’s plenty of talk about men. “I think it would be as valuable or probably more valuable for men than women," said Ms. White.
She holds a degree in theater from the University of Colorado and did further study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles.
Her previous work has been produced in New York City at the 13th Street Theatre and the 18th Street Playhouse, and in Boulder, Colo, at The Guild.
One of her other plays, ‘‘Paper Thin,” consisted of two men, living in New York City. Another play, “Skin Tight,” featured an anthropology student who falls in love with a bag lady. The musical “Dreams of Delivery” (composed with Mr. Kater) was “inspired by an environmental, feminine awareness.” She said the musical is most like “Rhythms” of all her other works.
She has directed plays before, and produced her husband Peter Rater’s recordings, but this is the first time she has produced a play. “Producing is a special challenge. During the last couple of weeks things have started flooding in, all the details,” she said.
The cast features local actors Dinah Pehrson-Day, Page Smith, Robin Herr, Sheila Simms Watson, Belinha Beatty, Diana Morgan and Stephanie Mastri.
Tickets are $7 in advance, $8 at the door. They are available at Mountainside Market in Washington, the New Leaf Bookstore in Warrenton, Better Thymes in Front Royal, Culpeper Music, Feather on the Wind in Charlottesville, and Down to Garth in Sperryville.
