On Friday, May 15 the kindergarten classes performed a wonderful play called “Down on the Farm.” The play was composed of four stories that the classes had read from their Whole Language Reading Program.
The stories were “Mrs. Wishy Washy,” performed by Susan Laueris class; “Who Will Be My Mother,” performed by Geraldine Payne’s class; “The Farm Concert,” performed by Sherri Marquand’s class; and “One Cool Spring Night,” by Carol Atkins’ class.
Margaret Ann Way land helped with the stage performances and Grace Caliando helped each teacher make their individual classes costumes. The classes worked very hard for two weeks practicing every day which resulted in a wonderful performance which was very well attended by many proud parents.
Mrs. Payne’s kindergarten class is also busy with an interesting science project: hatching eggs.
The project idea was suggested by the seventh grade class of Jim Rozak. The Rappahannock Extension Office donated the eggs to the 7th grade, which in turn turned them over to the kindergarteners.
The class performed the classic float and sink test to determine which eggs had been fertilized, the results were nine floated and three sank which should result in nine hatching chickens. Since April 29 the eggs have been watched closely by
