Robert Dennis suggested that Route 637 from U.S. 522 north of Flint Hill to Route 645 and following Route 645 to U.S. 211 be named Poe's Road. He said that in 1752 a William Poe had a tobacco lease from Culpeper requiring him to build a road to bring the tobacco from Wakefield out. In the original list of Road names part of this road was to be named Jerico Road.
Gene Fisher said a private road that was labeled Hitt Drive is his driveway, and since he owns the road he suggested it be named Fisher Lane.
Sean Wayland suggested Route 646 be named Dodson Lane instead of Scotts Lane and that a private road off Route 646 be called Bell Lane instead of Dodson Lane.
John Hartline suggested the private road off U.S. 211 beside Fanning Baumgardner’s Christmas tree farm be named Christmas Tree Lane rather than White Pine Drive.
The supervisors said they would consider all of these suggestions and expected to have to hold other hearings before settling on final choices for the roads in the county.
